inside out! Tha Rapman is the future! Remember that. To promote Hip Hop
music the only way I can… through my music.
Quotes: “I don’t do Afro Hip
Hop. What’s that? Hip hop is already African enough because it was
created by black people in America, and where did they originate from?
You can communicate in any language with your people be it, Pidgin-English,
your language or just plain English. I don’t do pidgin, that aint
me! But I intend to be flexible in my next album sha!”
“Battling
is a form of Hip hop.
No beef, just healthy competition.
Any rapper worth his salt
will tell you that.”
“I intend to save the Nigerian Music Industry from mediocrity. It’s
a tough job somebody has to do it.”
“My dissing Zaaki is not personal. I felt there was a lot of things
he was not doing as a hip hop rapper, if he wasn’t doing rap, I
wouldn’t have had a problem with him but I felt he was taking the
Hip hop listeners for granted. It was an issue I had to address, and as
far as ‘the pioneer of Hip hop thing goes’… N@#*a plee-aaze!
Boyz have been holding it down way before he showed up, El Dee (Xtra-Large),
Dr. Fresh, Emphasis, Junior and Pretty, etc.
“Battling is a form of Hip hop. No beef, just healthy competition.
Any rapper worth his salt will tell you that.”
"I hate it when people keep thinking I’m trying so hard to
be like Eminem. Just cuz I recycled one of his songs. I mean I really
admire him as an artiste but that’s as an artiste but that’s
as far as it goes. He’s on some psycho shit, I’m not. I love
my mums tho… I think it’s the energy and the venom we have
in common."
Music
History:
This Kano State born, Nassarawa native MC got into hip-hop music as far
back as 1991, rapping in secondary school shows, busting and exchanging
freestyles with fellow school mates. He was known then as Terryfic. He
then, featured on a talent show on DITV Kaduna called “Beatz of
our Tyme” shortly after he graduated from secondary school. He even,
wrote and produced the theme song. He graduated started creating a name
in Kaduna State where he spent almost twenty years, in the ghetto neighborhood
of Ungwan-Dosa. His popularity grew even more when he regularly featured
on “Rap Attack” where he played his demos. He later joined
a group called Croc City Click (AT, Mister Stan and Razor) he then changed
his name to Terry the Rapman.
They released
several joints that had air play in Kaduna, one of the songs featured
Six foot plus , who Terry knew through a talent show(beats of our tyme)
their fame earned then a review in the Hip-Hop ( a fast selling Hip Hop
magazine in Nigeria). After several frustrating attempts at trying to
get a record deal, the crew disbanded. Terry went to Kaduna polytechnic
to get a National Diploma in Mass Communications. He graduated and after
the February 2000 Sharia riots erupted in Kaduna, he had to relocate to
Jos (Plateau State) like a lot of Christians because of security reasons.
In Jos he
waxed a five track demo CD and sent it to Lagos, where it got airplay
in the Rhythm FM by DJ EL Dee (a member of SwatRoot) and it caught Six
Foot Plus attention who was there then in Lagos promoting his ‘Millennium
Buggin’ single which was executively produced by Solo Dee in Abuja
F.C.T, Six foot plus then got in contact with Terry in Jos, hooked him
up and the rest is history. Terry the Rapman is currently signed to payback
tyme records. He is one of the hottest sought after rappers in Nigeria.
"I
hate it when people keep thinking
I’m trying so hard to be like Eminem. Just cuz
I recycled one of his songs. I mean
I really admire him as an artiste
but that’s strictly as an artiste,
and that’s as far as it goes.
He’s on some psycho shit, I’m not.
I love my mums tho…
I think it’s the energy and the venom
we have in common."
About
the name:
the Rap (M.A.N) actually means Rapmanisfestation to the amateur niggaz
(in the rap game). He is a versatile M.C with hot venom and still sounds
funny. This
clear voiced Nassarawa native caused controversy when he dissed Zaaki
(a self professed Nigerian Hip-Hop Pioneer). He got critical acclaim when
he dropped money hungry chicks, a track which he addressed women who sell
their bodies for material gains and the men who take advantage of them
with the money. He goes under several aliases, like Afro Joe, Joe-Spazm,
and Speedy Gonzalez (fastest rapper in the whole of Naija)

Tha
Rapmanifestation is a rough journey
through the mind of a frustrated Nigerian youth, who is tired of the system
and going all out, against all odds.
Apart from the regular MC braggadocio flows,
(Tha Rapmanifestation, Fashi, & Partnerz 'n' Rhyme) he addresses a lot
of sensitive issues ranging from the ills of the Nigerian Society to corruption
(I am a Nigerian, 419 State of mind, Nigerianz) to gold digging material
girls (money hungry chickz). |
