CLEAN
Enter Da Monk
At first glance you might just miss it all. If you take just a brief
look, you might just completely miss the true personality that lies
encased by this versatile artist.
Welcome to the world of Rule clean AKA
Edserachi tha Afro monk. Born Edison
Serumun Achineku to Reverend and Mrs. Iyortyom Achineku.
RC has come a long way, from producing low quality bedroom demos to
two album releases.
“It is the love for hip-hop and positivity that keeps me going.”
Hip-Hop? Positivity... an uncommon combination it may seem, but this
is what you receive from a dose range of the monk.
The concept of the monk. The things you
don’t understand
“I believe this whole world is a monastery and we all become monks
as soon as we realize. Life only starts when we reconcile with our creator,
we return to purpose when we love to and share love. Everything for
me revolves around love and self control. Monk hood starts within every
individual when we embrace this truth. We must learn to master the world
around us and become liberated. The world around us becomes a monastery”
Explanatory words from the afromonk Ruleclean AKA “I go vex”.
Better known by the catchy hooks of his prerelease songs. RuleClean
continues to prove that his talent is truly God given. He received a
glimmer of light when his self released debut received favorable airplay
in some states around the country. Songs like 1 life, 1 death, tracks
from the album “Most definitely me” became anthem for most
FM stations in Lagos
In 1999 Ruleclean put out a couple of singles on the sliver point complementation
produced by OJB Jezreel. One on CD was the first release of the track
“wetin I want” which has now become the hit of the album
“Positive Poetry”
How did the monk end up on Paybacktymerecords?
“Me and 6foot+ were struggling artist, this we had in common.
I had just come fresh from a trip to Ghana and he told me that things
were about to work out for him so he asked me to make a compilation
of my songs which I did. The rest is what you see today. I was still
in Lagos when a call came in from the CEO of Paybactymerecords Solo
Dee, inviting me to Abuja for a Six foot plus promotion show
and discussions on a record deal. I made that trip and ended up on the
record label.
Ruleclean’s sophone effort has been released on paybacktymerecords.
He is what you might call a bridge across many rivers. A connection
between Hip-Hop and dance hall singing and rapping. Broken and plain
English to mention a few. He delivers all carefully written lyrics in
a style that is now engraved in his very personality.
